Art by Yasmina Reza

Art is a comedic play that won the 1998 Tony Award for Best Play.  The plot concerns three men, Yvan, Marc and Serge.  The play begins when Serge buys for two hundred thousand francs a modernist painting that consists of some white lines on a white background.  Marc resents the fact that Serge spent so much money on what he sees as simply a white canvas, while Yvan flip-flops between Marc and Serge's opinions.  Yvan's non-committal attitude costs him dearly when he later has to offer his convoluted, compromised view to the other two.

London Suite by Neil Simon

London Suite is a collection of four one-act set in the same suite of a fashionable old hotel in London.  Each story has a different tone: taut revue sketch, a sentimental comedy, a comedy-drama, and an unbridled farce.  The show is filled with Simon's characteristic comic one-liners, freewheeling sight gags and a sudden ambush of poignancy.  The play was presented on June 23 & 24 and June 30 & July 1, 2006.

Quilters   book by Molly Newman & Barbara Damashek, lyrics & music by Barbara Damashek

Set in the mid-1800s, Quilters tells about women of the prairie, their personal journeys, their fortitude of character and their life-affirming spirit, and about the place that quilting holds in American society.  The play in and of itself is a quilt, a series of sepia-toned snapshots of the lives of the women.  The pioneer life experience of the women is represented by quilting and quilt square patterns.  The quilt ably represents a life: nothing is wasted, every little scrap is valuable, and many pieces make up the whole.  The musical was presented on October 27, 28 and 29 and on November 3 and 4, 2006.

The musical had five performances, selling out four times, and emotionally moved each audience to both laughter and tears!  After the final performance, the quilt (which was created and generously donated by the talented quilters of the Country Treasures Quilt Shop in Chester, VT) was raffled off to a lucky winner from Claremont, NH.

"Quilters was just so wonderful and the players were so good!  I could have stayed there through another performance.  I am so glad we decided to attend and I look forward to your schedule for next year."    -- Ethel D., Westmoreland, NH
