The Springfield Community Players will hold auditions for “The
Octette Bridge Club” by P.J. Barry on Sunday, August 15 and Monday
August 16 at the Players’ Studio on South Street, Springfield,
Vermont. Auditions will run from 6:00-8:00 p.m. each day.
“The
Octette Bridge Club” is a sentimental comedy about American life in
a bygone era. It is the story of eight sisters who meet on
alternate Fridays to play bridge and gossip. The first act is
set in 1934 and the second act is 10 years later. Over the
course of the play, we see revealed the intricacies of the
relationships beneath the surface of this seemingly happy band of
sisters.
The
play will be directed by Don Gray and has parts for eight women.
The characters range in age from 37-54 in Act One and from 47-64 in
Act Two, but the actors need not fit this age range exactly. No
experience at playing bridge is required. There is also a small part
for a man in his twenties.
The
play is set for performances on October 8, 9, 15 and 16.
