Springfield Community Players

Monthly Newsletter -  June, 2008

The Springfield Community Players will meet on Tuesday, June 10 at 7pm in the Studio.

Recent Highlights:

Don Gray has cast the doo wop musical, Why Do Fools Fall in Love?, with Alyson Bull, Emily Mobus, Katie Gagnon, and Emily Borocz.

Rebecca Skrypeck’s cast for The Vagina Monologues includes Cindy Sarles, Alice Harwood, Molly Ferris, Stephanie Rowe, and Phaedra Lauchance.

Molly Ferris is updating our membership lists and has made many calls to get correct addresses and to find out each member’s interests in play parts or behind the scenes tasks. If you have not been contacted by her, please call the studio to leave a message and she’ll get back to you.

DUES are still owed by a few. Please send them to Don Gray, PO Box 113, Springfield, VT 05156. Thanks.

Volunteers are needed - To mow grass (on our riding mower), to help run sound and lights, to paint, hammer, or find props. Let us know what you can do.

ANNUAL PICNIC time is coming up. We’ll set the date on June 10 and maybe select an adventurous place to meet.

HIGHLIGHTS OF THE MAY Meeting:

Don presented the Treasurer's Report.

Scott lent costumes to the Dorset Players which signed a borrowing agreement.

Steph reported that Dancing at Lughnasa had a wonderful opening weekend. There were almost full houses at each performance.

Tom’s auditions for Humpty Dumpty are July 13 & 14.

The nominating committee presented a new slate of officers which was voted in. Recording secretary is Rebecca Skrypeck; Corresponding secretary - Steph Rowe; Treasurer - Don Gray; Vice President - Donna Jacobs; and President - Ira Emerson.

Molly Ferris was congratulated as this year’s winner of the Spindler Bowl.

The auditing committee reported that Clyde Jenne and Steph Rowe had found Don’s books correct and in order.

Residing the south side of the building and building the handicapped ramp were discussed, as was a bid from Bill Allen. It was voted to allot $4000 to have this done.

In signing off as last year’s president Bill Lundy agreed to remain as web master and suggested that we continue to look at the by-laws for updates, that we check our 501c3 status, and that we have a co-signer for the treasury.

SCP has a full season ahead.  Join us for meetings, workdays, and fun, and as stagehands, actors, painters or mowers.  We want to see you.
